BLEACH* Festival
One of Australia’s best and most exciting contemporary art events is the 2023 BLEACH* Festival, which you absolutely must go to. As the festival honours the most avant-garde and daring local artists, expect 11 days of contemporary art experiences presented by Placemakers*. The BLEACH* Festival offers music series, compelling stories, performance art, and exhibitions.
The BLEACH Festival, now in its 12th year, will take place in five venues this year: North Burleigh, Broadbeach Cultural Precinct, Gold Coast Botanical Gardens, HOTA, and Currumbin Valley. There will also be additional citywide activations.
The festival officially kicks off on August 3 and runs until August 13. Take in First Light – Headland with violinist Véronique Serret and Kalkadunga resident William Barton at North Burleigh Beach. The musical duo takes you to Headland, a tranquil soundscape influenced by the Australian landscape.
Enjoy the festivities at BLEACH* Love Your Local North Burleigh Hub. The North Burleigh Hub offers something for everyone, whether it’s participating in dance performances with the sand between your toes, learning how to create fire and play traditional drums, or enjoying some of the Gold Coast’s top musicians in the sunshine, sheltered by Norfolk pines. On August 4–6 and August 11–13, be at Ed Hardy Park at The Esplanade North Burleigh.
In addition to the BLEACH Festival, take advantage of the Gold Coast Whale Festival and the whale-watching season.
All About the Whales
Whales have an almost otherworldly presence. Do you desire more information about them? The ideal event is the 2023 Gold Coast Whale Festival.
The festival, run by Humpbacks and Highrises (HHR), aims to raise awareness of the waters and the majestic whales in the neighbourhood. On August 12, be at Justins Park in Burleigh Heads.
Everyone should take advantage of the Whale Festival to learn more about whales in the Gold Coast Bay and how they can get involved to change things. Booths and displays from various groups will educate the public about marine and coastal sustainability.
Everybody will get an opportunity to learn during the day with family-friendly activities. They also provide games and fluke matching for the youngest learners to discover more about whales and the marine environment.
After the Gold Coast Whale Festival, why not go whale watching? The Gold Coast’s best whale-watching season is from late May to early November. Migratory humpback whales pass close to the coast along the fabled “Humpback Highway,” seeing them up close will be a memorable experience.
Burleigh Heads is one of the greatest sites on the Gold Coast to go whale watching. Burleigh Heads offer top-notch viewing areas, including Burleigh Hill, which is close to Burleigh Beach, if you want to see the whales this year. You may see them from Tumgun Lookout in Burleigh Heads National Park.
